Nicole Cecilie Bitsch Pedersen works with soundscapes and acousmatic composition, radio, installations and sound sculptures. Her solo work addresses questions on our relationship with time and history and often combines audio, nature and technology. She has exhibited site specific pieces made for a historic church ruin in the Faroe Islands, as well as permanent sound sculptures for Deep Forest Art Land and Anneberg Park in Denmark. Her most recent work Travels through matter was recently on view at Skovhuset, Værløse in Denmark. In 2023 she received the Nye Veje grant by the Danish Composers’ Society for the ongoing artistic research project; The sound of passed time exploring the materiality of time in sound and audio medias.
Together with artist and writer Jo Mikkel Sjaastad Huse and architect Johanna Fager, she has started the project PUBLIC RETREAT, exploring questions about sound, city and the public space through site- and context-specific installations, fiction, audio magazines, workshops, radio and text.
She is part of NODES Collective currently working on Nyksund Reloaded – an international artistic research project re-actualizing “The International Nyksund Project” (1984-92) in Nyksund, Norway .
Nicole holds a Master in electronic music composition from the Danish Institute of Electronic Music (DIEM), Denmark, and a postmaster in public art from the Royal Art Academy, Stockholm, Sweden. She lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.
